For my first review, it only makes sense to share my opinions on the “toy” that I have the most experience with. It is my home, it is my hell. That’s right, I’m referring to none other than my Jailbird Chastity Device by Mature Metal.
The Jailbird is the first chastity device I have ever worn. That is important. I had done quite a bit of research online and after weeks of going back and forth and actually deciding on several different devices, Belle and I decided to go straight for the gold…or stainless steel rather. We wanted quality from the start. It is often reported that many of the plastic male chastity devices out there might as well be disposable. Constant repair was not something we wanted, so steel it was. Besides, Belle thought the metal “looked hot.”
At the time, most reviews available were on the jailbird. We decided we might as well go with the most popular model.
We played it safe and ordered the sizing rings. This was a very good call. Were it not for them, we would not have gotten anywhere close to the size we needed. At the time only metal sizing rings were available. A refundable deposit was required and could be used towards the purchase of a device. Currently, they are also offering a more affordable set of plastic rings.
Customer service was top notch throughout the ordering process and the device itself arrived within the estimated timeframe (contact mature metal for current ETA).
During the first day or so of wearing the jailbird, I realized that the base ring I had purchased was too large. I sent the device back along with $10 and within two weeks, I had it back in my possession with a brand new base ring.
Having worn the device for weeks at a time, I often almost forget I’m wearing it.
There is plenty of space between the bars for a fair amount of teasing, but although I haven’t tried, I don’t think I could get off while wearing it. Even if I did manage to, it wouldn’t be worth it. The discomfort that would be involved would negate any pleasure I would receive.
There are a lot of concerns that people looking to get into male chastity often have. Let me try to put your mind at ease.
- I have worn my device to the gym. I have worn it running several miles at a time. I have had no issues.
- I have worn my device in jeans, dress pants, jogging shorts, and swimming trunks. Nobody has ever noticed it and I don’t think would be able to tell even if they were looking. I wear boxer briefs, and I don’t even think someone would be able to tell I was wearing a chastity device if I weren’t wearing pants at all.
- Cleaning is a breeze. The open nature of the cage allows me to take a normal shower and keep clean without any special tools.
- I can comfortably sleep through the night in the Jailbird. This one took some time. with all trapped ball devices, there will be some pulling on the testicles when you get an erection. That is just the way it is. Having the right ring and gap size will minimize this and in my case, after some getting used to, my cock doesn’t try to get a full erection and I have no problems at all. In the beginning, it would sometimes wake me up throughout the night, but that isn’t the case anymore. I use a good silicone lube (a drop is all you need) around the base ring before I go to sleep. That really helps with any rubbing that might occur.
The Jailbird is available with several options. These include the anti-pullout system, the spike strip and security screw. I did not purchase any of these extras so I can’t really speak on them.
At $290, the Jailbird may be a bit pricey fo
r casual weekend play. However, if you are looking for a 24/7 device, the price is really a drop in the bucket. It is actually one of the cheaper devices Mature Metal offers.
Would I recommend the Jailbird? Oh yeah! It holds me tight and gives me the illusion of my keyholder’s hand being wrapped around my cock all day and all night. Would I buy another? Not necessarily.
We are considering purchasing another model that Mature Metal offers. The Pet Trap. We would really like something that allows less ability to touch through the device. We are also looking to get a smaller cage this time to prevent erections a little better. Due to stretching over time, I’m also ready for a smaller base ring as well. Instead of sending the Jailbird back for a new ring, we figure we might as well just get a whole new device. Variety is a good thing!

Belle’s Thoughts
As Jnuts has stated, we considered several options before settling on the Jailbird. At first I was hesitant to make the monetary plunge, especially on something that we had never tried and I was not sure that I would want to continue. The more I looked at the plastic devices however the more I disliked them. I liked the look of the stainless steel, and I still do. It is fun to reach over and grab a little bit of metal through his jeans, I doubt that a piece of plastic would have the same effect.
I can not attest to the comfort aspect of the jailbird, but I can say that Jnuts does not complain about pain. There were some minor issues right at first, which were very quickly resolved. Customer service is amazing through Mature Metal, and I am looking forward to ordering our next device.

I have a problem with metal rings, I wonder if you have experienced it.
I have a cock ring that is perfect size for me however after what is really a short time it expands from my body heat and becomes to loose. This is one reason why I not bought one (the other is reason is being out of work)

That is very interesting. As I mentioned, my base ring is too big now. I have attributed this to my scrotum stretching a bit, which I’m sure it has. Now that you mention it though, if I’m allowed a day or two without the device, when I try putting it back on, it is quite tight for a few hours. I guess I never really thought that my body heat would be enough to make the metal expand. I would be interested to know if anyone else thinks this might be the case.

I’ve had bad experiences with nocturnal erections with a CB6000 (my first device). Aside from the interrupted sleep, the tugging on the base ring has caused some minor abrasions which were bad enough to have to take a day off wearing it. I think the biggest cause of the issue was being trapped part way down the device rather than extending all the way to the end as I normally would during any daytime stimulation. Other than that I’m very happy with the fit which has been comfortable and 100% secure.
I think the birdcage might get around the few minor issues I have and provide a better solution for longer term use. ie Playing sports, more hygienic and less likley to be trapped in the wrong place during a nocturnal erection. On that basis should you order a length to allow some room for “growth” in the cage part or is it better to get a fairly snug fit when flacid so that an erection can’t properly form?

Don’t add any length. You want it tight. It is very important to be honest with yourself when it comes to measurements. I didn’t think I was adding any but now I find myself wanting a cage that is at least 1/2″ shorter. Also, if your base ring is too big, the device will hang lower, giving you more length that you really aren’t going to want.
I think no matter what you will end up getting one base ring size and then going smaller as you progress.
I have never had any experience with the Birdcage, but that is how it is with the Jailbird.

Thanks mate. Yeah, I’m in the process of losing a few pounds too so I might find I will need a smaller ring eventually. I stepped down one size already but that was more about getting used to the sensation rather than shrinkage. The CB6000 is serving its purpose well for the time being so we’ll keep playing with that until it breaks or I reach my goal weight. I might just have to keep the key handy at nights just in case for now.
